Grief Australia | Grief and loss throughout the lifespan

Audience: This workshop is designed for staff who encounter grief and loss in their work, including psychologists, social workers, counsellors, teachers, nurses, medical practitioners and pastoral care workers.

Overview
A person’s expression of grief is unique and influenced by factors such as age, culture, and previous exposure to loss. Children and adolescents will grieve very differently from people in midlife or older adults. Therefore, practitioners need to understand the manifestations of grief at various developmental stages in order to provide competent support to clients of all ages who experience loss.

This workshop will explore the various losses that affect people throughout their lifespans. It will identify how children and adolescents grieve and how loss can accumulate as we age. Finally, the workshop will explore creative interventions and strategies to use with grieving people of all ages.
