Overview
In navigating everyday life, we encounter many situations that require us to modulate our emotional reactions in some way to assist us achieve our goals, maintain our social connections and/or reestablish our sense of equilibrium. After a death, intense emotions and potential challenges can increase exponentially and overwhelm our coping resources, in some cases leading to social isolation and other adverse outcomes.
Drawing on laboratory-based, treatment, and population studies, including the experiences of Australians bereaved during the COVID-19 pandemic, this webinar will a) present the recent findings from the field of emotion regulation relevant to grief and trauma, and b) discuss how these can be integrated when providing supports for grieving clients across the continuum of supports need.
