FreeDr Grace Walpole, Palliative Medicine Specialist at Eastern Health in Melbourne, Penelope Casey, Research Fellow, and Aliesha-Jane Fejgl, Nurse Manager, Supportive and Palliative Care Unit, Wantirna, will talk about delirium at the end of life.
Delirium is a serious condition which causes an unexpected change in how a person thinks and behaves. It affects about 20% of adults admitted to hospital and 35% of adults admitted to palliative care. Delirium is often not diagnosed or is mistaken for other conditions and the symptoms can be very distressing.
This presentation will cover diagnosis and treatment options and how patients, families and clinicians can work together for better delirium care.
