Comprehensive Health Assessment of the Older Person Workshop (Workshop 21: Southern Metro – Frankston)

Managed by the Victorian Department of Health through the Commonwealth Government’s Strengthening Medicare – Supporting Older Australians initiative, the Australian Centre for Evidence Based Aged Care (ACEBAC) at La Trobe University will be holding 140 three-day workshops for nurses who work in all Victorian residential aged care services. The workshop includes interactive, hands-on skills development, aided by simulation manikins.

The Comprehensive Health Assessment of the Older Person workshop provides nurses with content and skills development in the areas of:

• clinical reasoning and general assessment skills
• communication of assessment – professional issues
• musculoskeletal assessment
• nutrition, metabolism and elimination assessment
• cardiovascular assessment
• respiratory assessment
• cognitive and perceptual assessment
• psychosocial assessment

Any other instructions: To be eligible, you must work in a Victorian residential aged care home. You must obtain your manager’s approval before registering for the workshop so you can arrange the appropriate leave required.
